Perodua’s much-anticipated seven-seater Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), Perodua Aruz, is officially launched by the Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Darell Leiking, with the estimated prices of between RM72,900 and RM77,900 (on-the-road without insurance in Peninsular Malaysia).
Its President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said to date, Aruz has received 2,200 bookings since order-taking began on January 3.
“SUVs are enjoying a big rise globally. Buyers like their versatility, comfort, high driving position, good visibility and increased space while just maintaining a compact footprint. Above all, their appearance projects an active, adventurous and aspirational lifesteyle that many desire.
“With the Perodua Aruz, many more Malaysians can now enjoy the benefits of an SUV, plus advanced features typically found only in pricier vehicles. This makes it among the best-value SUVs on sale today, with space, safety and efficiency elevated,” said Dato’ Zainal.
This new SUV model represents Perodua’s return to the segment, with previous predessor models like Nautica and Kembara. Many have reported that Aruz is based on the Daihatsu Terios, which also doubled as the basis for the first and second-generation of Toyota Rush.
Aruz offers two variants which are the 1.5 X and 1.5 Advance, with five colours; Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Electric Blue, Granite Grey and a new Amazon Green.
This exclusive Perodua SUV comes with 1.5 litre Dual VVT-i engine with a four-speed automatic transmission, and the range topper comes as standard with Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0, which includes Pre-Collision Warning and Pre-Collision Braking, among other features.
Contributing to the Perodua Aruz’s 5-star Asean NCAP safety rating are Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), ISOFIX and six airbags, which are all standard across the range.
